A Local and Sustainable Biocement: Our Innovation Featured on La Télé

We’re proud to have recently been featured in the news segment of La Télé in a report titled “A Biocement Produced on Vaud Soil”, broadcast on March 25, 2025. This media coverage highlights our pioneering approach to producing eco-friendly biocement directly in the canton of Vaud.

A Sustainable Alternative to Traditional Cement

As explained in the report, our biocement is based on an innovative method that combines technology, ecology, and circular economy principles. Unlike traditional cement—whose production is highly energy-intensive and accounts for nearly 8% of global CO₂ emissions—our solution relies on a biological process inspired by nature.

The cement is produced using bacteria capable of solidifying granular material through calcium carbonate precipitation. The result is a durable, solid construction material with a significantly lower carbon footprint.

A First in French-Speaking Switzerland

The pilot site shown in the report is the first of its kind in French-speaking Switzerland. It was established on Vaud soil in a controlled environment that allows for optimized production conditions. This project, supported by scientific and technical partners, represents a major step toward sustainable construction in Switzerland.

The La Télé journalist also emphasized the project’s local roots: materials are sourced locally, production happens on-site, and everything fits into a regional strategy for innovation and ecological transition.

Promising and Practical Applications

Beyond research, our biocement is already in the demonstration phase. In the video, practical examples are shown—such as soil stabilization and simple structural applications—illustrating the material’s potential for:

  • . Reinforcing terrain (road edges, riverbanks, etc.),

  • . Manufacturing prefabricated components,

  • . Providing environmentally responsible construction solutions.

Recognition That Strengthens Our Mission

This media exposure reinforces our mission: to reinvent construction materials to meet today’s environmental and climate challenges. Support from the community, local authorities, and the public is essential to help shift construction practices during this pivotal time of change.
