The Challenge: 23 Million Tons of Excavated Molasse<\/h2> \n \n

A year ago, CERN announced its international \u201cMining the future\u00ae<\/a>\u201d competition to challenge participants on ideas about valorizing 23 tons of excavated molassic soil. <\/p> \n \n

MeduSoil joined a consortium led by Amberg Engineering and including Mobbot, Holcim, Bilger+partner, VSH and Pagani Lafranchi. <\/p> \n \n

The consortium\u2019s proposal consisted, on one hand, of an efficient sorting system which tackles the heterogeneity of the Geneva molase and produces tailor-made soil compositions at reduced energy costs<\/strong>. <\/p> \n \n

On the other hand, the excavated soils which cannot be valorized for producing concrete, can be reused harnessing MeduSoil\u2019s bio-binder\u2122<\/a> products and Mobbot\u2019s Earth spraying technologies<\/strong>. <\/p> \n \n

Impact and Recognition<\/h2> \n \n

Among more than a dozen submissions, the consortium ranked in the top four and presented its concept at CERN\u2019s Globe of Science and Innovation. <\/p> \n \n

The result highlights Switzerland\u2019s leadership in sustainable construction and soil improvement.<\/p> \n \n
